About

We don't just market to the cleaning industry. We're invested in where it goes next.

Five Door Media is a marketing company built for cleaning businesses. Not a generalist agency with a cleaning page on its website, a company that chose this industry, studies how it actually works, and helps build the community around it.

  • Commercial cleaning / janitorial

Why we exist

The reason the company was started.

At Five Door Media, we exist to partner with home service businesses so that together, we can increase their impact internally, locally and beyond, because we believe home service businesses have the power to change the world.
Our founding Why was written when Five Door Media served the broader home service industry. Today, we are fully focused on cleaning companies, bringing that same belief in business, people, and community impact to the cleaning industry.

Impact is not an abstraction in this business. A cleaning company that grows well is in a position to pay people better, offer steadier hours, and create roles worth staying in. It can serve customers without cutting corners, show up for its community, and absorb a slow quarter without panic. Those are decisions owners make; a healthier business is what makes them possible.

That is what the Why means by impact, internally with the team, locally with customers and community, and beyond that as owners raise the standard for everyone else. Our part is the marketing: helping a company win more of the right work so the owner has more room to make those choices.

Why cleaning

Cleaning isn't a vertical on our spreadsheet. It's the market we've chosen to understand deeply.

Specializing costs you options. We decided that was worth it. Every client teaches us something that makes the next engagement sharper, and because it all happens inside one industry, it compounds instead of scattering.

It also keeps us honest about the differences. These are not one business model with five paint jobs, and no two companies inside the same model run the same way. We learn each one rather than assuming it.

Recurring residential
Relationships measured in months and years, where retention matters as much as acquisition.
Commercial and janitorial
Walkthroughs, bids and decision processes rather than impulse purchases.
Route-based window cleaning
Density and scheduling shape what a good customer is worth.
Exterior cleaning
Demand often starts with a problem the customer can see before they know what the service is called.

We help build the industry, not just sell into it.

CleanCon exists to connect the residential cleaning community so that, together, we elevate what is possible for the future of our industry.

Five Door Media, through Drew and Erin Larison, is one of three co-founding groups behind CleanCon, alongside Molly Moran of LIVEBRIGHT and Holly Moore of The Cleaning Software.

CleanCon is an event and community for residential cleaning business owners. CleanCon's content is organized around three pillars: Education, Innovation, and Connection. It exists so owners can learn from each other, see what is possible, and stop solving the same problems alone.

We keep current event details on CleanCon's own site rather than repeating them here.

How our thinking changed

The ads aren't always the problem.

Poor performance does not automatically mean spend more money. Often the spend is the only part that is working, and something upstream or downstream is where the opportunity is lost.

So we built a diagnostic instead of a pitch. The Five Door Method examines five doors, Platform, Creative & Art, Targeting, Ad Engagement, and Sales, to find which one is closed before anyone recommends a budget.

Drew Larison, Founder and CEO of Five Door Media

Drew Larison

Founder & CEO · Visionary

Drew Larison is the Founder and CEO of Five Door Media, a marketing strategist with more than 15 years of experience helping small businesses grow. For more than a decade, his work has included deep experience in the cleaning industry, where he has helped business owners think more strategically about paid advertising, branding, messaging, digital marketing, and growth.

Drew Larison has spent more than 15 years working in marketing with small businesses across a wide range of industries. Over time, that work became increasingly concentrated in home services and, more specifically, the cleaning industry.

Today, as Founder and CEO of Five Door Media, Drew focuses on the strategic side of marketing: identifying where growth is being constrained, building clearer positioning, improving paid advertising, strengthening messaging, and helping business owners make better marketing decisions.

His areas of focus include paid advertising, marketing strategy, branding, leadership, messaging, and innovative digital marketing. He is especially interested in challenging the assumption that every marketing problem requires more tactics, more channels, or more spend. That thinking helped shape the Five Door Method, Five Door Media's diagnostic framework for identifying where growth is actually being held back before prescribing a solution.

Drew is also a co-founder of CleanCon alongside Erin Larison and partners Molly Moran and Holly Moore. Through Five Door Media, Drew helps lead CleanCon's marketing, messaging, and website strategy, and he also speaks at the event on marketing and growth within the cleaning industry.

Erin and Drew Larison of Five Door Media

Drew pushes what's possible. Erin makes sure the organization can actually deliver it.

Drew works ahead of the company, direction, strategy, the version of the plan that is bigger than comfortable. Erin works across it, structure, ownership, follow-through, and the standards that make the plan survive contact with a real week.

Neither role is the creative one and neither is the administrative one. Both are strategic. The pairing is the reason ambitious ideas here tend to end up as something a client can actually be handed.

What we believe marketing should do

Leads aren't the finish line.

A prettier report is not a healthier business. Marketing earns its place when it can be followed all the way through the business, not just to the point where a form is submitted.

We will not claim perfect attribution or promise a revenue number. What we will do is keep the whole chain visible, say what we can and cannot see, and judge the work on what happens after the lead.

  1. Marketing
  2. Leads
  3. Opportunities
  4. Customers
  5. Revenue
  6. ROI

That commitment is why we built Command, the client platform where results, what we're working on, what we need from you, and what's next stay in one place.

How we work

Five words we actually use.

These are operating expectations, not wall art. They show up in how work gets picked up, challenged and finished.

Better
Leave the thing improved. Small, repeated improvement beats occasional reinvention.
Initiative
See it, start it. Waiting to be assigned is a decision too.
Ownership
The outcome is yours, not just the task. Say what happened and what you're doing about it.
Confidence
Bring a point of view. Clients are paying for judgment, not a menu.
Everything is Figureoutable
Unfamiliar is not the same as impossible. Go find out.
Your turn

The question is what's actually stopping your growth.

We chose this industry, built a method around its marketing problems, helped start its community, and put accountability into a platform our clients can see. All of that exists for one reason: to understand what is holding your cleaning business back, and to be useful about it.
